General / Cultural Heritage stuff

Hello all.
im working, or better preparing for a big project in cultural heritage stuff, have someone some real knowledge in this area? mostly on thing like what is accepted resolutions for buildings, monuments, statues and other smaller like vase-urn  ? We have a few guidelines for that but want know how is in world with this.  For ruined castles and church - around or under 10cm, for small things in under millimeter range probably. We will mostly digitalise it, not prepare complete plans from that, this will be work for others..

Have someone used the middle format cameras with aprox 30-80 Mpix size with Photoscan ??

our goal is to "scan" over 3.000 units in 3 years......

Hello all, in the new BETA version is implemented MESH cleaning tool, it clean a significantly mesh that can be used and subdivided in Mudbox. its still not perfect, without errors, but is working and is F A S T. tested comparable solution in sw like Geomagic, and Magics too, but they  speed cannot be compared to this. (Geomagic around 5mins - Pscan a few seconds )

now it remove Non-manifold topology and few other things. eil inform afther weekend, im preparing for exhibition of my work........

Here go my B I G thanx to developers that they implemented it, we work closely to improve the software for all of you.....

Hello, afther reinstaling of Win7 64bit, i cannot see my Nvidia 560ti in OpenCl devices under Photoscan, in the GPU CAPS are to see two devices - AMD CPU Open CL device and NVIDIA 560Ti but i cannot set it - see attachment

Hi All, could someone help me out ? im need a PC with at least 64 GB RAM evenuely 128 GB+

Hello
im want to know what code is running on the GPUs, is that a SinglePrecision or DoublePrecision arithmetics ?
Why im asking ? because the NVIDIA card - gamer models - are by drivers disabled for maximal speed in the dubble precison - only to 1/5 of ther real performance. Full performace is only with the profesional like Quadro or Tesla cards
the AMD drivers are not so blocked, full DubbPrec FP power
 or the software use a Single precision FP arithmetics

is possible to export orthophoto that sumarize some detailed info like pixel - cm ratio or something _ that mean if it can be somehow easy to determine real world sizes of objects - if real size of few details is known ?

General / 8 vs 16 bit Images

Hello.
what are differences when using 8 or 16 bit images, the memory problem is not a issue, but can i get "more" details with 16bit as when 8 are used ?
My camera Canon 550D shot with 12 bit per channel, but the overall quality is better with 16 bit per channel - tiff file
when using the console - every time im getting different numbers - that was mentioned earlier that every run takes little bit diffident approach, therefore cannot fully compare difference here.......

General / MAX cpu cores useable

Hi Dmitri,
My biggest question go how is core of the Photoscan prepared for multicore, because a few of us need max speed for customers - deadlines.
 
So the question is, how scale the app with more than 16 cores, example a 4x AMD 12core system - 48 cores total, can we expect that all cores will be used for reconstruction proces ?
Because if not then is "better" using of a INTEL solution, but they not support so many cores for a reasonable price.

Hello Dymitri.
My& question goes the multiCPU scalability, if i buy the AMD solution , dual or quad 12 Cores CPU - 24 or 48 cores, is your algoritmus useful on so many cores ?
Teroreticaly want bulid a openCL monster, some dual (quad) cpu board with LOT of ram and GPUs (pair of GTX590)......
There is a question is this a way to speeed up or
