In case you have different areas of interest, then your request can be completed using custom Python script that will export points based on polygonal shapes that have been pre-loaded (imported) to the project. If you need assistance with the latter option, providing that you can import or draw polygonal shapes in the project corresponding to the areas of interest, please let me know.

can you send me a Python script to export a point cloud for the selected region (a polygonal shape imported to the project)?

I don't find that script on the Metashape Scripts GitHub repository.

General / Align and merging chuncks by georeferenced markers

Hello, I have a dataset from a corridor flight with only one strip. In some corners, the plane moved off the planned flight path, so there are areas with very little overlap between photos. Because of this, Metashape can’t automatically align these photos.

To fix this, I divided the flight into 4 chunks, each covering a section where the photos aligned properly. For each pair of photos that couldn’t align, I created 4-5 merging markers in QGIS (georeferenced XYZ markers) and placed them on the images in Metashape. Now, I want to align and merge these 4 aligned chunks into one chunk for the whole corridor flight. After that, I plan to add GCPs along the flight path, import an external DEM and create an orthomosaic.

I know I need to use the "Align Chunks" tool with the "Marker" option. Should I also check the "Fit Scale" option?

After I merge all the chunks into one, can I remove the merging markers? Or do they need to stay because they are the only "tie points" linking the photos? Also, do the merging markers need to be as accurate as GCPs?

Please note that I only have XYZ data for the photos, without angles (roll, pitch, yaw).
