Face and Body Scanning / Re: Planning to open 3D scan studio

Well, you're right.. the small figurines approach is indeed very gimmicky. People just don't value these small replicas.
After all they can get a Dark Vador figurine for $20..

Now the Bronze Bust is sure a nice idea, but then we're talking about a completely different thing ...  :P

I think you can forget the DSLR idea for a mall business type..
the cost in $ and time would just be too much.

As Ruffy said, that business model has been handled very poorly from the start..

I thought of such business a long time ago, but I gave up, as it was not really worth it.

Maybe a  better idea would be to have a mobile setup and go to Fairs, Festivals etc..  Depending on the city you live, in a mall, clients are pretty limited.

Good luck 8)

your model is causing this>>

switch to shaded view in Pscan... same thing.. what you see is a Bumpy model.. that has nothing to do with the texture..

Hello Charles14, There is a Memory chart here.. DL it, so you can have the exact answer of how much RAM you will need..

8 GB is very little to work with Pscan

try lower to Low or Medium quality.. or simply add more RAM

nobody said to replace 5 x 10mpx images for one bigger one..( I don't even understand why one would do that.). .. but simply said, for the same number of images and identical framing, the more pixels the better..  8)

If you take 20 shots from a chair with a 10mpx cam, and the same 20 shots with a 50mpx cam... then you will ended up with the same chair, except much more detailed with the 50mpx images..  :P

well one can always mask the out of focus areas at texture step.. so PScan will discard these masked areas..

Alexey, would this help..?

yes mainly what you said... more light is really needed... :P

but even though you have more light... 5 sec. shooting is a lot for a living subject.. so you won't get a very good model.. and it might be pretty noisy..
