Bug Reports / merge chunks + masks fails
« on: April 15, 2025, 04:03:25 PM »
Ive got 2 chunks both with masks, when I merge with "merge masks" checked, the merged chunk comes out with masks only in one set of images.

General / Filter photos by shape
« on: April 14, 2025, 10:59:45 AM »
Filter photos by shape works only for the vertices of the given shape. There should be an option to select all the photos that can see the shape along the edges and optionally also inside a closed shape.

Agisoft, please, give us a proper polygon selection tool, (or at least let us use any closed shape for selections as serves for dense points), you can't keep ignoring this simple tool requested for years, freehand is fast but is very imprecise.
Let us select photos by polygon, select triangles by polygon, select tie points by polygon, PLEASE

you may have moved photos to a different location. Right click and change path will allow you to restore access to all images.

General / Re: Points in point cloud disappear when zooming in and out

Yes olihar. The clipping plane. One of the weirdest and hardly useful features… I would almost call it a bug. Or perhaps is something our Agi-heroes left unfinished with a plan in mind, but they forgot the actual plan. Instead of an uncontrollable front clipping plan, wouldn’t you love to have a proper clipping box? you can save and manage them and use one or more to clip view and eventually exports without touching the region. Would you second that?

Sbond, a double click on the point cloud or model will fix the annoyance.

General / Re: Colorize Points Inside a Polygon ?
« on: March 23, 2025, 01:42:37 AM »
Hi José,
From a surveyor’s perspective, drawing freehand shapes in an image editor feels a bit impractical — each color usually represents a calculated volume, real distances, properly surveyed lines, and measurable quantities.
Well, you can rasterize vector layers on Global Mapper, for example, and then export colorise the mesh vertices from orthomosaic. ( I’m a land surveyor too, by the way, and I find freehand pretty practical quite often)

Hi folks: There is an easy trick. Export orthomosaic, use your favourite image editor and add tint to the areas you want to highlight/colorize. Then re-import in Metashape.
After that you can colorize vertices using your fancy orthomosaic.

Feature Requests / larger recent project list

I wish the recent projects list was longer, why not at least 12 rather than only 5?
Thanks

Bug Reports / Ambient occlussion messed up by block model
« on: February 18, 2025, 10:49:03 PM »

I had to build my mesh partitioned into blocks due to bad allocation error (not enough memory?). After that, I merged the blocks and got one single mesh model that appartently is clean and appears to be gapless in the seams.
However, the mesh topology in the seams is faulty and that causes these ugly black strips on the occlussion map.
The merge blocks operation needs some rework in my opinion

General / Re: Double Sony ILX-LR1
« on: February 11, 2025, 08:06:21 PM »
I understand the convenience of flying higher, but keep in mind that long lenses come with some inconveniences. More atmosphere in between the camera and the ground, and worse sensitivity to depth. So if the gsd is the same (long lens at higher altitude equals wide lens in lower), generaly one can expect a more robust bundle adjustment and better 3D accuracy with a moderatley wide lens.
Additionally, have you considered a variable angle gimbal and one single oscillating camera? the configuration of two synced cameras overlapping 10% only to widen the field of view will hardly be beneficial in any other respect, so I wonder if it is not just more expensive than a movable single camera. Have you seen the so called "smart oblique" mode allowed by DJI Zenmuse P1?

Well I don't see major cons, but why 85mm and not a wider lens instead? Is there a need for ultra hight ground resolution? I guess it's going to be a manned aircraft borne solution. Sounds interesting.

Feature Requests / Re: Hide all info layers option for Capture View

+ 1
I would add export word file when a screenshot is taken with orthographic standard views and chunk has [R]

Feature Requests / Re: Gaussian Splatting
« on: February 11, 2025, 09:53:44 AM »
Pix4D, the main competitor is adding Gaussian splatting for high quality rendering. Agisoft, is your turn to step further into it to keep leading. I’ve been playing with GS for a while and I am beyond impressed.

Bug Reports / Mask from model has gone?

Edit: No, it is now under tools menu.

select the car and a margin around, delete, then use fill holes. I really dont like the fill holes tool, because it produces a closure with ugly large triangles and it is not sensible to context, but kinda works, and you can later use smooth tool.
I would suggest to have a look of Virtual-Surveyor, it does much much better and just with one click,
