General / Re: Breaklines and mass points
« on: January 25, 2019, 04:50:00 AM »
I have workes with virtual surveyor, and Must say semi-automated breaklines extraction is the best approach I've seen to the date. It works really well  in naked areas and due to its hability to allow user input, it is rather usable even with trees or some low vegetation. The only drawback it is that VS is designed to work in 2.5D mode (all surfaces have Z positive normals), not allowing true 3D models to be "virtually surveyed".

General / Re: Very high error photos
« on: January 14, 2019, 12:50:10 AM »
Looks well. Dont worry. If you dislike seing such apparently huge error, just uncheck camera coordinates and update, because this large error comes surely from the elevation tags. The P4A does not use the same datum as your ground control points... (something that is the general case)

General / Re: Getting XYZ Data from Point Cloud

Adding a marker by right click on desired location of the dense cloud should not yield to a floating marker.
You can also draw points on the cloud and export them as dxf

Hello:
You can do as follows:
draw/import pollygon shape
duplicate dense cloud if you want to keep the original
use tools/dense cloud/select by shapes
crop selection
.... mesh the partial dense cloud

« on: December 03, 2018, 11:46:06 AM »
It looks that you have exported a colour ramp rendered image, but not a proper DEM. I guess you may have used the CaptureView command rather than the export DEM.
Please right click on the DEM object in the project tree and choose Export DEM, (File-Export-Export Dem... is the same)

Cheers

General / Re: Moving object removal
« on: November 13, 2018, 04:51:03 PM »
Moving cars are easy to remove with the patch tool but are not automatically detected by Photoscan.
it should not be too much difficult to detect/delete moving objects if redundancy is more than three... Alexay might want to think about. Other programs do this unwanted actors removal automatically.

If point cloud is enough for you, I would suggest you to use www.PoinBox.xyz
It is free as is.

Bug Reports / Drag view changes model orientation
« on: October 22, 2018, 01:09:50 AM »
Yes, this sounds imposible, but if you have a scaled model that has been rotated manually so scene XYZ axis are coherent with object principal directions, if you drag the view, your axis will rotate about Z. This unexpected behaviour has driven me crazy for quite a while... and is totally nonsense from my point of view.

As well, it is annoying that if one rotates object, then sets a scale bar and updates... Photoscan will on its own modify model rotations instaid of just scale it

Why without my permission? WHY?

EDIT: This odd behaviour can be reproduced, however it seems not to be a general case. In my particular case, I'm processing photos that had geotags. I cleared them before alignment, but still the coordinate system remains as wgs84. I have noticed that resetting transform and changing to "local coordinates" makes things work as they should.

General / Re: How to make use of the imported camera position
« on: October 19, 2018, 10:18:27 PM »
if you have created a file with photo, lat, lon, elev, yaw, pitch, roll. you should see all photos as blue balls in the air after import locations.
Then you should enter terrain average elevation (photo elevation - flight altitude over ground) in ref pane settings.
Use align wit reference preselection (but not generic), 40000 key points 4000 tie points... it should not take that much!

Make sure in GPU tab of tools-preferences dialog that you have all your GPUs (cuda or OpenCL) enabled; this is crucial to speed up alignment.
In case it still reports too long time remaining, you could use selection tool with blue balls and use "sent to" (context menu ar right click on any selected photo on the list) to a new chunk. In this way you could fractionate the project into smaller blocks.
In my opinion, you should not have too much problems for alignment using all together... hoewver you might face some troubles in further steps unless you split your project into chunks.

Good luck and keep us informed about the progress.

General / Re: TRANSFERRING FILE TO REVIT

Autodesk recap free allows to import Photoscan ouput exported as .txt or .las and converts them to rcs which is their proprietary point cloud file format.

General / Re: Shadows Causing Deformations in DSM
« on: October 17, 2018, 03:08:40 PM »
The case is quite extreme. yes, the moving shadows will be understood by SFM as features in motion relatively to the context thus having different elevation than surounding ground (lower or higher) so, sadly there is nothing you can do to prevent that but by masking shadows that are likely to have changed significanlty during flight turn time.
you could edit dense cloud and delete those dark points prior to build the DEM or MESH
I wonder also why the cabinet is so poorly modeled... flying lower and might help to grab more texture.

Yes, and honestly in my humble opinion they're not better than the classic in any sense. I'm sorry.
The use of monochrome pallete for buttons is not an improvement in my opinion. With all respect, I insist, the user interface requires a strong facelift.

General / Re: Replacing images
« on: October 16, 2018, 02:08:24 PM »
use same names for corresponding images and place them in a diferent path. Then duplicate chunk and change path for photos in the new chunk redirecting to the new dir.
