General / clip to boundary shapes
« on: August 24, 2020, 08:44:48 AM »
Hi all,

Trying to clip the extent of exported orthomosaics or pointclouds using a shapefile in 1.6.3.

I can see the shapefile extent overlaid on Ortho view but option is greyed out (see attached). Any ideas?

Thanks

Javier

What projection are you using? Think Metashape only likes WGS84

Hi @Paulo,

Just curious about using fiducials vs relying on self-calibrated camera parameters based on GCPs... is there a huge difference?

General / error creating mesh
« on: June 11, 2020, 12:18:05 AM »
Hi all,

Im getting an memory-related error (attached) when trying to create a mesh (based on depth maps) from 8k+ images (@20MP).

Is there a workaround beyond splitting the cameras into many chunks?

Processor   Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700 CPU @ 3.00GHz, 3000 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM)   32.0 GB
Name   NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER

cheers,

Javier

Ill give that a try thanks. How do I project the images onto the surface?

Thanks Alexey. I used the script, extended the bounding box size to the area of interest and tried to generate a mesh using the Extrapolated option... but got an empty surface as only a handful of tie points were present.

Is there a way to "force" alignment of images with no texture (e.g. over water) based on high-precision location/orientation information?

cheers,

Javier

Python and Java API / Re: Multi view stereo with known cameras aligment.

Anyone has been able to align texture-less images (water) based only on high-precision location/orientation?

Thanks Alexey. Getting empty DEM/mesh due to only a handful of tie points. Any way I can "force" tie points using the camera location/orientation?

cheers,

Javier

Hi there,

I have used the quick layout script to align images with known location and orientation. Given that my site has minimum texture (open water), Im wondering what would be the best approach to match the photos and build points? Is there a way to "force" this in order to mosaic the images?

cheers,

General / alignement of featureless images

Hi there,

Is there any way of "forcing" alignment/mosaicking based on the precise camera location and orientation data? Trying to work with a set of featureless water images where I cant place GCPs either.

General / Error when creating orthomosaic from thermal imagery
« on: October 16, 2019, 03:08:17 PM »
Hi all,

Im processing thermal images taken with a Flir Vue Pro. The images were georeferenced using coordinates from less frequent RGB images. The point cloud seems ok but tilted and resultant orthomosaic consists of only a few pixels, even when rotating the region. Not sure what is going on as same project worked with the previous Photoscan version.

Ive uploaded the project (ver 1.5.5 build 9097) to: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4xqgwm1r6xmg8zn/AAAko59FBPJYKFxhfgfugIoGa?dl=0

cheers,

Javier

Yes but you only need a couple GCPs to optimise.

General / seeing through sparse vegetation
« on: October 11, 2019, 05:21:42 AM »
Hi all,

Im trying to get ground points through very sparse vegetation and wondering if anyone has suggestions in terms of processing. At the moment I have high overlap (80% forward and side), combining nadir and oblique images and using aggressive depth filtering to build the dense point cloud. Any ideas?

cheers,

Javier
