Feature Requests / max / min face count per unit area
« on: October 22, 2012, 02:50:00 PM »
Hi all - I wasn't sure whether to put this in as a bug or a feature request

Certain features tend to accumulate a huge number of faces at the expense of others, which become coarse and are under-represented.

Would it be possible to introduce a 'maximum face count per unit area' option before model reconstruction to stop this from happening?

Or, coming at it from the other way, could there be a minimum face count per unit area to ensure some areas are not poorly reconstructed

thanks

Python and Java API / remove cameras of a certain orientation
« on: October 02, 2012, 02:00:26 PM »
is it possible to write a script that will remove cameras that are within a certain ranges of parameter orientation?

with aerial photography datasets I would like to be able to take out the turns quickly

I don't know anything about programming languages and scripting but would be happy to learn if anyone thought that the above is possible

Feature Requests / ortho export file formats that support > 2GB
« on: September 26, 2012, 04:03:59 PM »
As far as I'm aware, exporting to geotiff from agisoft limits file size to 2 GB?

support for bigtiff or other file formats that enable export of larger files would be good

this is only a problem because of this though

Feature Requests / Identify source photo used in mosaic texture
« on: September 14, 2012, 03:02:22 PM »
When using mosaic blending for a texture, I'd like to be able to identify the source photo used for a specific patches within the output.

For me this would really help find and remove blurry photos.

thanks!

General / Which operating system? Does it matter?
« on: August 29, 2012, 01:30:59 PM »
Whilst using agisoft, has anyone ever switched operating systems?

Did you notice any change in performance?

Would anyone expect there to be a difference or does using opencl standardise everything?

I'm on windows 7 currently but wouldn't mind ubuntu if performance is better

thanks  :)

General / disk write speed when saving
« on: August 23, 2012, 12:30:31 PM »
I don;'t know the ins and outs of hardware but I get the impression that agisoft could write data to disk at a greater speed - has anyone else found this?

At the moment it saves a project at 10MB/s on average and the drive is not in use by anything else (1TB 7200 RPM)

thanks

Hi

I would like it if there was some way to ensure certain photos are used over others in the final orthophoto mosaic.

I imagine it could be done in a number of ways - perhaps explicit ranks or more qualitative groups of best, average and poor for example.

I understand that it is possible to mask and disable photos to control the quality of the final orthophoto but I thought my suggestion might be a better/easier way to control this process.

thanks very much

1) align photos

2) point cloud quality model

3) select areas of model to be ignored (i.e. masked) from the model view not per photo view

4) high quality geometry model creation - ignoring previously selected / masked areas in step 3

Might seem a little strange but I shall explain why I think it is useful. Maybe there is a solution already to my problem!

my overall aim: create a high quality DEM of certain small clusters of fields from aerial photography

dotted throughout the overall region captured, between the areas of interest, are small patches of woodland

the woodland patches are often rendered with many millions of faces at the expense of the fields which are rendered with far fewer faces

filter threshold does reduce the number of faces in woodland area and but also negatively affects areas of interest

don't want to have to mask out the woodland patches from ~1300 photos if possible! hence feature request above

ran at high quality, 100 000 000 faces

General / poor inter block blending?
« on: August 03, 2012, 03:18:50 PM »
Hi

Usually I export a single large geotiff orthophoto and then split it into blocks with another program.

The other program is quite slow, so I was trying to split the export into blocks with agisoft using options in the orthophoto dialogue box.

If I export one large geotiff the photo is well blended i.e. no hard lines at all

If I export with exactly the same dataset and settings, only this time splitting into blocks, there are hard lines between the blocks

is there a way to stop this?

0.9 pre release x64
windows 7 x64

thanks for the help

Hi - just a quick one

when exporting an orthophoto and splitting it into blocks (i.e. it would be good to have the choice between sequential file naming of blocks and letter number row column naming (i.e. A1 A2 A3 B1 B2 B3)

General / is photo pre-processing useful?
« on: August 02, 2012, 01:55:57 PM »
Was just wondering if pre-processing photos (noise reduction etc) is beneficial?

Also if I wanted to achieve a more even exposure when using mosaic blending under ortho export, would preprocessing photos with auto levels / exposure adjustment help?

thanks very much for the help =]

General / mosaic blending orthophoto export gaps holes
« on: July 31, 2012, 09:23:14 PM »
when I export an orthophoto with mosaic blending I get holes and gaps even with fill holes is ticked.
I don't have this problem with the other blending modes but would prefer to use mosiac if possible as it gives the most crisp raster.

this is on
windows 7 x64
aigsoft 8.5 x64

~1800 photos
high align
height field
medium model
10 000 000 faces
gereferenced

will be trying with the pre-release 0.9 tomo just wanted to see if there was something obvious that I was missing

thanks!

General / Adding more photos to chunk and realigning
« on: July 30, 2012, 12:18:35 PM »
Hi

If I run an alignment, making a point cloud, and then add more photos to the chunk and run a second alignment, would it be any quicker because some data on camera positions for some photos in the chunk exists already?

Does agisoft use these data or start totally from scratch? Just wondering (also I prefer not to have to bother with chunk alignment if possible)

thanks! =)
