Why is there a mismatch in Maya between virtual cameras and physical cameras?
When I set the Focal Length and Angle of View, the virtual camera sensor size becomes smaller.

Btw, everything works fine, but I'd like to know just out of curiocity. :)

Face and Body Scanning / Why is Image Orientation important?

Hi guys,

Something I'm not understanding correctly probably, but why is Image Orientation important (you know that warning that comes up when adding photos)? Isn't flipped image just a transformed matrix?

One way I see when it matters is only when doing Aerial Photogrammetry and orientation may affect how internal algorithms interpret directional motion blur, but for Face and Body Scanning, does it really matter?

Its a small minor thing which keeps bugging me.

Whenever I want to align chunks Photoscan window starts up with all chunks selected, but for the most part I just want to align a single chunk, not all chunks. and I keep unchecking things.

Would it be possible to make the default behavior where nothing selected?

Maybe some don't agree with me here, so maybe something to discuss?

Hey guys,

After reading a few posts here and noticing that some people are still talking about breeze.
I want to give a bump to the software I've been using successfully to summon images from all of our Nikon cameras to PC. It is absolutely free in compartment to SmartShooter and has a very nice feature set. Also, it seems like the developer will be adding a feature to be able to LiveView all cameras at once! The application was mentioned here on this forum once before a couple of years back, but I'd just throw it out there for anyone new to this.

Sometimes it is hard to know what resolution texture I have previously generated.
It would be nice to have a Texture Node listed under each Chunk, so I can pull
information about it like Properties: Texture size, bit depth.

Chunk 1
    Dense Cloud
    3D Model

Otherways I have to export the Texture before needing it.

Feature Requests / Adaptive Dense Cloud Sampling

Some areas of a subject are planar or simple in features and therefore may not require much detailing.

It would be nice if there was a Reconstruction Mode where Photoscan determines where to build: Lowest, Low, Medium, High and Ultra High point cloud all by itself.

Help me understand the Align Chunks feature better.

What does accuracy do and what does Point Limit do?

Say if I set:
Accuracy = Low
Point Limit = 200000


Accuracy = High
Point Limit = 40000

What sort of results should I be expecting from both of these scenarios?

Is Accuracy some sort of SIFT depth value, which dictates how many iterations the algorithm does at the alignment stage once points a set number of points has been reached?

Would it be possible to make the workspace pane act more like a Photoshop Layer window?

With abilities to make chunks:
1. Visible/Invisible
2. Selectable/NonSelectable
3. Groupable
4. Dragable

I to be able to re-arrange chunks, which is not really doable at the moment.
Or, say view place one chunk on the background as a template, while selecting points to delete from another chunk (Think of selection masks in PS)

Sometimes the growth escapes into the restricted areas where the desired effect is for it to be contained in a non masked region.

PS doesn't seem to ignore the areas that are masked when doing Texture reconstruction.
It'd be really nice if it did.

Bug Reports / Bounding Box size & Photo Set & Dense Point Cloud behaviour

Bounding box size seems to affects number of photos used when building the point cloud.

Is this the correct behavior, because when I build a small part of an object I expect the whole photo set be searched for the corresponding area inside the bounding box. But there seems to be some optimization that discards certain photos, which defeats the purpose of having a resizable bounding box because not everything withing the bounding box ends up being build.

Sounds a little strange doesn't it?

PS Version 1.0.0 build 1736.
