Actually...

There was another issue I was not aware of, and he said he will contact you to fix it. Something with the bounding boxes.

Hi,

I tried the new feature - exporting to a potree point-cloud (very cool to have this!). Only problem is I end up with a model with weird alignment -



The model WAS aligned in Photoscan before exporting, of course.

I got a mail from Markus Schütz developer of potree and he explained the problem, which was with the uploading of the file.

I main reason for my trouble was, that I want to do it for a point-cloud model (ply file).
I had trouble with other software in doing this.
This method works prefect.

Hello

I'm looking for advice - using PhotoScan or any other software (meshlab?), what would be the easiest way to place a mesh at the point of origin (0, 0, 0)?

Exporting from Photoscan, the meshes always end-up at unexpected place.

I would like to have the data of the matches between the images, like what you see in the "view matches" option. But as raw data somehow. Maybe some kind of text file.
e.g. the kind of info you get when using MissStereo (text file attached).
The text file is comprised of coordinates from both images that match (pairs) like this:

Here are the links to the models with no texture (on sketchfab they appear a little soft. but you can turn on wireframe mode):

https://skfb.ly/zSus - For this one there was not enough light on display. Had to use higher ISO. I guess that's why there's only around 350k triangles. Also maybe there's not enough detail on the sandstone?

Hi,

I wanted to share some of my latest work with PhotoScan. This isn't my first post, but it's the first time I'm showing some results.
Thanks to the newer version of PS I was able to finally create some models on my on (after some help from Wishgrater). I don't really understand the change (maybe someone can explain me) but finally I can create meshes (with medium dense point-cloud, and high quality meshes) at a reasonable time. Up until now I constrained myself to creating point-clouds only.
So here are some models I made while visiting the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Shot with Canon 6D and 50mm (some models have missing parts because it was impossible to shot from that direction).
If you have any tips for me I would like to know... and questions as well.

General / Usage of PhotoScan and/or 3D Scanning in Museums and Archives

Hello,

I would like to know, from your experience in this field, do you know of any Museums or Archives who operates a 3D scanning devision or unit, that works on bringing their entire collection into a 3D files archive?
Something like what the Smithsonian is doing: http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/14/smithsonian-3d-scan/

General / Any fast way to align chunks?

Hello all

This is a little urgen for my school project for tomorrow.
This is my first experience with this software on large models.

I have 6 aligned chunks and need to align them together, but this is taking forever.
I thought this part of the process would be faster. It seems like the software is now aligning all the images together, as if the aligned chunks are not even taken into account?

Do you have any advice for me? Manual align somehow perhaps?
