Hello,
i have put in the GTX 980Ti and it runs beautifully. It turns out that I have a spare GTX 660. Does it make sense to put it in additionally?

thank you!
Ludwig

is it possible and/or will it be worth it to keep the AMD and run both the r9 and gtx 980ti at the same time? The MSI has two graphic card slots...

General / How to most efficiently update this system?
« on: September 07, 2016, 10:28:53 AM »
Hello,

we have been running Photoscan Professional on the following system for the past two years:

- 12 core i7-3970X @ 3.5 Ghz
- MSI X79A-GD65 (8D) (MS-7760)
- AMD Radeon R9 200 / HD 7900 Series
- 64 GB RAM
- 1000 W power supply

I am planning to substitute the AMD for a 8GB GTX 1080. Does that make sense to you or does that not fit to the other components and does the software already support the new Nvidia?

thank you!

Dear James, Ralph, Kiesel,

this is GREAT input for us! Thank you very much! We will try out everthing you said. As we will e in the field for the rest of the week we will give an update in one week or so. Thank you so much again!

Ludwig

@ Kiesel: I will post the GCP coordinate in model system as soon as I get access to the PC again (so many people working with Agisoft here and we only got one license). Thank you for your offer, I will try it myself as well to learn it

Hello everybody,

I am working with cotopaxi on the same project and I guess we did not make sth. very clear:
The pane as you can see it in the "test-site_mask" Screenshot is in fact a slope, that is in reality points 2, 5, and 1 lie lower than 6 and 3 and 4. We set the z Coordinates of the makers all to 0 as we want a orthophoto that is not orthogonal to an hypothesized Nadir but orthogonal to the plane that makes up the surface of of the slope. So maybe we do sth completely wrong here?

A shot of the GCP pane is attached to this message. Thank you all for your commitment!

General / How heavily reduce geometry for Orthophoto?
« on: May 02, 2013, 10:15:59 AM »
Hello everybody,

I am still working on my first test with PS and I have created a 38Mio Face geometry of a 85*170 m urban area an now want to create an orthophoto. Are there any rules on how to decide on the number of faces I should have in my model to get a good orthophoto, with the full 38 Mio points it seems to take 120 Hours? Is there a general rule about the number of faces I need dependend on the complexity of terrain and size of the area?

thank you very much,

Ludwig

Camera Calibration / Re: Getting k1, k2, k3 from distortion table?

Hello,
thank you again for your effort. I now got the information that the values were computed with a program called "Bingo". Can that help me?

thank you!

Hello,

thanks for your reaction! Actually I do not know the software, I just got an Excelsheet with the results on it. If it could helop I could certainly ask for the software used. The parameters I got are:
Focal length: 16.409 mm
Chip format x: 24,260 mm
Chip format x: 13,603 mm
Pixel size (x,y): 5.282 mum
Principal Point: 12.055 mm (x), 6.870 mm (y)

The coordinates refer to a coordinate system with the origin at lower left (x positive to the left, y positive to the top)

Radial Symmetric Lens Distortion:
R (mm)                      Delta R (mum)
0                               0
2.5                            27
5                               26
7.5                            9
10                             1
12.5                          46
15                             205

Thank you again,

Ludwig

Camera Calibration / Getting k1, k2, k3 from distortion table?
« on: April 17, 2013, 08:46:37 PM »
Hello everybody,

I have a Sony NEX-5 with a fixed 16 mm lens. I got it calibrated in a laboratory and got a report with all the parameters (fx, fy, cx, cy) in mm (so I converted them in pixels and I get numbers similar to the ones estimated by PhotoscanProfessional, difference in fx, for example is about 30 pixels). The report also has a radial symmetric lens distortion table. As I am a photogrammetry beginner I am wondering if I can convert the values in the table to the k1, k2, k3 parameters to use in Photoscan Professional.

Any help is very much appreciated,

regards,
Ludwig

Hello Wishgranter,

sorry for not thanking you earlier, but I have the PC now and just wanted to let we know what I/we have now:
- i7-3970X @ 3.50 Ghz
- ATI Radeon HD 7900 Series (Tahiti 32 Cores  925 Mhz, 2048 MB)
- 64 GB RAM
thanks again and regards,

ludwig

Dear Wishgranter,
we do not have 200 image dataset yet, this is what we will generate next summer. But thank you for the RAM information. I have one LAST question. I do not like overlocked CPUs, what non-overclocked CPU should I get instead of the overclocked mentioned above to get a similar performance?

thank you, I appreciate this very very much!
Ludwig

Really? Wow, that would be so cool to get advice so fitting to our data! What UAV do you have? We have a Astec Falcon...
regards and thanks!
