"3D Bean™ Photo Figurine Studio is currently located at 6 Pleasant Street in Malden MA, where we built our patent-pending 360-degree multi-camera system."

What? Did I miss something. I've never seen a system like that before..

Hi,

Image quality. The best thing to do is run your own tests and experiments to see what works for you.

Feature Requests / Reset View + Focus On Region
« on: October 17, 2014, 11:02:02 AM »
Hi Agisoft,

Please can we have a button so we can zoom in on the polygon mass, chunk, scan or region box.

At the moment Reset View is pretty useless to focus the orbit around the working scan.

Thanks,
Lee

Feature Requests / Photoscan forgets batch settings.
« on: October 16, 2014, 10:38:24 PM »
Hi Agisoft,

It seems Photoscan forgets batch processing settings. This can be useful if we use the same dense cloud or geometry build settings from a previous session.

Thanks,
Lee

Hello Alexey,

Great thank you.

Hello Alexey,

Excuse me, yes I can see you are correct. It seems these have now been disabled and you can click in the Distance box to activate it.

It does seem that portrait images get rotated into landscape in this new build, which didn't happen before and can make it tricky to place markers.

Thanks,
Lee

Hello Alexey,

That's great but the tick boxes just don't work at all. Not even in the Reference pane for Cameras. They cannot be ticked. Neither can Scale Bars tick box.

Thanks,
Lee

Bug Reports / EXIF data being ignored in Photos pane.

Hello Agisoft,

It seems on certain machines that EXIF data being ignored in Photos pane. So Portraits shots in the Photos pane are being rendered in landscape.

Hi Agisoft.

It appears in the latest release that Tick boxes for Reference/Cameras and Markers and Scale Bars broken. They do not work. It's therefore hard to add scale markers and reset scene scale.

I've also seen reports of 2x GTX980 SLI machines freezing during reconstruction. 1x GTX980 works fine.

You need faster strobes. But to achieve faster flash speed you have to decrease their output. 1/13,000th will do it. Your camera exposure time can be anything up to 1/200th.

Use prime when you can.

RAW adds nothing to the build quality apart from exponential increase in processing times. It is however useful during texture phase.

General / Re: New 4D scanning method...

Anyone can do the same thing with correctly lit 2d footage and AE with some simple normal map conversion. It's just a trick. There's a reason why they don't rotate those models. 1x camera will never provide enough data for even partial reconstruction + depth.

Thanks for the message. These days I don't give out consultancy for free.

USB related problems have been acknowledged by various USB hub manufacturers. "USB3" is totally useless, I think there are some fundamental problems with the drivers and chipsets, namely at Intel's end.

Perhaps the issue will be solved with the next generation of USB.

I would say experiment with different hubs cables and PC's. It is possible to connect for than 75x cameras per pc.

It seems only high-end canon camera such as 5d mark III support USB 3.0 :D

You can still use USB3 in the mix ;)
