OBJ export only local coordinates
« on: January 31, 2019, 06:54:04 PM »
Looks like OBJ export works only with local coordinates. If you export with WGS84 it creates a shifted model in top view and only one line in side & perspective view.

Don't know if this is a bug, but maybe it could be fixed.

btw. in OBJ export it seems Agisoft is reducing the polygons in export. Agisoft Model has 417,516 faces
KMZ Export = 417,5k
OBJ Export = 378,1k

Hello GrinGEO,

If you export OBJ in WGS84 coordinates, each vertex will have XY in degrees and Z in meters.

In case the post processing application that you are using cannot work with such geographic systems, they will be just considering all XYZ values are of the same scale and units. Therefore you will be observing a ray of points along Z axis, since X and Y values wouldn't change much (only some lower decimal digits are changed for the degrees).

As for the number of vertices, are all of them inside the bounding box and whether the boundary is applied for export?

ok thanks now I understand where the problem come. In this case it's better to go with STL files

Exporting the data using Local Coordinates option from the georeferenced projects will keep the scale and orientation of the model, but the absolute coordinare values would not be accessible. If you need absolute values as well, I can suggest to use corresponding UTM projection for the export, as in this case all XYZ coordinates will be in meters.
