Built Texture size, whats better?
« on: February 03, 2019, 07:28:12 PM »
Im wondering if its better to have bigger texture size and less textures, or have smaller texture but higher quantities? Is texture calculated on CPU or GPU?

16K texture x 2
4K texture x 8
2K texture x 16
1k Texture x 32
512 Texture x 64

does anyone have any experience?

and would it be possible to add GPU supply to mesh calculations?

Also what would really be good, if we could improve the speed of the Mesh View. Becouse often I need to upload first the models to Sketchfab to do some surface checks, becouse in Agisoft it is so extremely slow to view...

By using 99x 512 texture size I could reduce a 2M vertex model size from 76MB (10x 4000 texture size) to 47 MB. I don't know exactly why, but it seems to work well.
Maybe this helps someone else too to reduce models for Sketchfab upload.
