System requirements - where is my fault ?!?
« on: February 28, 2019, 07:06:41 PM »
Hi
I have a major problem having a big new computer system with the following configuration, but my MSI Laptop is still faster and trying to work over a model with 90 pictures, the big system still crahses with everything on medium and normal settings. Can you tell me which detail is wrong with my system configs ?
I don´t know how to solve this problem...

Thank you all very much in advance !

Max,
You need to give more information - what version of PhotoScan/MetaShape on both machines, and copy of the console log up to and including where it crashes.

I´m sorry, on my MSI Laptop I have Version 1.3.3 built 4.8.2.7 864 bit) and on the big PC metashape 1.5.1. built 7.6.1.8. 64 bit.
I´ll make a console copy tomorrow while it crashes

Hello Max,

If you have not yet submitted the crash report, please do.

Also it may be reasonable to install the latest GPU driver from the manufacturer's web-site. For new system it could be also helpful to run a complete Memtest86 check.

First of all, thanks already !
I treid now another model and it crashed again by creating the mesh, following the copy of my console log, the end is where it crashed.

And i´m very sorry for this dumb question, but how can i produce/copy a crash report ?
I can´t find it anywhere.

Thanks a lot in advance !

Max

Max,

what we need know is how your project looks like. How many photos (& their resolution), the settings you are using to generate the depthmaps/dense cloud & mesh in Metashape etc..

Allright, for instance, this last project i tried consists out of 97 pictures, each jpeg and 5-6 MB
The settings i used..

Align: Medium, Generic, Key point limit 80,000,Tie limit 0, adaptive camera model fitting     (got 88,216 points)
Built dense: Medium, Aggressive, calculate point colours,
Tried to do a mesh with dense cloud, Arbitrary 3D, Medium (1,679,104), Interpolation Enabled (default), calculate vertex colours
Than it crashes, no way to reach texture and other things

Thank you all again for your help !
All these models are for a PHD so it is quite necessary to me to get it to work

Hello Max,

Are you sure that driver 399.24 is the latest available for your graphic card? It seems to be almost one- year old. On the NVIDIA web-site driver 419.17 seems to be available for GTX 1080 Ti / Windows 10:
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/143231/en-us

But it would be helpful, if you could run Memtest86 check, as the mesh generation stage that you are using (basing on the dense cloud) is being performed on CPU only, but may be using RAM quite intensively, depending on the size of the source dense cloud.
Maybe you can run some CPU/RAM intensive stress-test on the same configuration.

As for the crash report - he crash reporter tool should appear after the unexpected close of Metashape, do you see it? If not, then what happens when Metashape window disappears?

Hi,

allright i just updated, so i will go to the page directly and donwload it, thanks for now !

i don´t know how to get memtest86 running,so i don´t know how to go on with this.. I try to find some other RAm stress test.

there is never a crash report, only the screen gets black and after a short while back to desktop with nothing..

I managed to do many Memtest at least, no errors so this is not my problem..
i donwloaded the latest driver for the GPU but still, having around 90 pictures Metashape is carshing
during mesh or texture, getting directly to the desktop after getting a black screen, no kind of crash report.
What shall i do  :-\

If on Windows, note the exact time of the crash (to the nearest 5 seconds even).
Then look at your Event Logs, especially the System ones. They will often be a very strong clue as to what went wrong.

Hello Max,

Please enable the Write Log to File option in the General preferences tab, then re-start Metashape and try to reproduce the issue again. If it crashes, then please send the log to support@agisoft.com. Additional information from Windows, that you can get according to the instructions above would be also helpful.
