So i have a large project of about 1600 photos over 1000 ha approx. It was flown at 120m altitude with 60/60% overlap which I know isn't ideal, but it was the only way to finish the project in a reasonable time with the mavic 2 pro.
I have run it through dronedeploy and the final ortho image looks great, but there are issues with exporting large file sizes and its been a real pain in the ass trying to break it down into smaller sections. Also living in Australia, trying to upload 10GB of images is nearly impossible if your suburb hasnt been upgraded to the NBN (fibre) as opposed to still running on copper wires (about 10MB connection). So I despise cloud computing! I want a desktop solution.
So i thought i would give metashape a trial. I've run it three times now but it wont align approx a 1/3 of the cameras and I dont know what I am doing wrong. I realise there have/are some issues with the mavic 2 giving the wrong altitude in the EXIF data, but it didnt seem to effect the dronedeploy ortho at all. Im not worries about the 3D model. I just need the bloody ortho!
