What formats does "export cameras" support?
« on: August 11, 2010, 02:49:45 AM »
The "Align Photos" is a very good feature! I usually model from photos in 3D studio Max but I need to align the cameras myself or use other programs which are not fast at all.
That is why I am very interested in exporting the aligned cameras from PhotoScan to 3DStudio max.

Since I am using the demo, the export funcions are the only ones I cannot test (I could not find in the online documentation what kind of information the "export cameras" produces either)

Hello, Edmundo,

Currently only CHAN and BOUJOU file formats are supported. There is also an option to save camera positions with the 3D model when exporting to 3DS file format.

Please let us know what file format will be convenient for you so we could include it in the next PhotoScan version.

I just starting using Photoscan.  Incredible.  I don't think you charge enough $ for this program.  I have version 0.6.1.556.  There is no Export Cameras menu choice in the File Menu, or anywhere else that I can see.  Where is this function?

If possible, I would also like to obtain the camera axis orientations, in addition to their positions.  They could be expressed as a unit length vector, using the same coordinate system as the mesh.

Just so you know who likes your application, I am a mine engineer and geologist.  And I am currrently experimenting with multi-rotor, radio controlled helicopters as a platform for aerial photogrammetry.

Hello, Bob,

The camera export feature is now grouped with point cloud export, so you need to use "Export Points..." from "File" menu to export all required information. Cameras are saved when using PhotoScan structure, Chan, Boujou or Bundler file formats.

Please let me know if more information on specific file format is required.

Sorry for poor documentation on this topic.

Also you may be interested in the ongoing release of the PhotoScan Professional Edition, which will include such features as support for setting coordinate system, georeferencing, orthophoto export, DEM export and volume measurements. More information should become available during this week on AgiSoft web site.

Excellent.  I was planning on writing a request for the exact features that you plan to add to the Professional Edition.  AutoCAD .dxf and tetured google .kml output options would be nice.
