Camera Calibration Query - Fisheye?
« on: July 19, 2019, 02:51:21 AM »
Hi all,

Just a quick question about camera calibration:

I've been using an Olympus XZ-1 camera to take my images to build some DEMs. The camera specifications are:

- 10 megapixels
- 4x wide optical zoom 6-24mm 1:1.8 - 2.5

All of my images are fixed at focal length 6mm with a fixed aperture.

My question is this:
Is this camera considered a fisheye lens when calibrating the camera in Photoscan? When I look at the image details is says 28 under 35mm focal heading - What does this mean?

I've built several amazing looking DEMs using the standard Frame option when calibrating the camera but I'm concerned that I haven't used the correct camera type when calibrating within the program.

Thanks!

Hello Emma,

On fisheye images you should be able to see obvious distortions. But judging on focal length only it is not possible to say, if the image should have Fisheye type assigned in Camera Calibration dialog.
