Camera alignment failed - UAV imagery of agricultural fields
« on: August 29, 2019, 12:31:22 PM »
Hi all,

For a farmer I am monitoring a few fields this season with a DJI Phantom 4 Pro. During the season image processing with Metashape worked flawless, however, for a homogeneous field of brussel sprouts recently the image alignment started to fail on the same section of the plot for multiple recordings. I am curious what is causing this and if it can be solved. In my perception the whole plot looks similar so I don't understand why one section fails to align while others align perfectly. I've attached a screenshot of the orthomosaic and two screenshots of the actual images, of which one is not aligned while the other is aligned, to give an impression.

So in summary, why does the alignment fail and how to solve it?
If more information is needed to answer this question I am happy to provide.

Awaiting response,
