MicaSense RedEdge-MX - Calibration Panels
« on: July 30, 2019, 01:52:49 PM »
Hi,

About the Micasense Rededge-MX workflow, I'm trying to understand how Metashape handles multiple calibration panels/multiple flights in the same chunk.

Considering this topic from Micasense:
https://support.micasense.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000765514-Use-of-Calibrated-Reflectance-Panels-For-RedEdge-Data ;

does Metashape consider the time stamp of the cameras to interpolate the calibration effect?

Hello jmgc,

Yes, Metashape considers the timestaps, if there are calibration images of the panel available before and after the flight.

Hello jmgc,

Thanks Alexey.

Just to be sure, In my particular case, I have 2 flights and 4 panels in the same chunk.
As I suppose from your answer, Metashape will consider the timestamp to distribute the calibration for each image?

Hello jmgc,

Any word on this Alexey? Is Metashape interpolating values or is it using the panel that is closest in time for a given image?

If there are several flights taken under different weather and lighting conditions, I can suggest to split them into difference calibration groups in Tools Menu -> Camera Calibration dialog. Each group should contain the corresponding images of the panel, as each group will be calibrated separately.

And if all the flights are in the same calibration group, then the answer to the question depends on the presence of the calibration images both before and after all the flight images. If this condition is fulfilled, then the interpolated data will be used. And if the calibration panel images are taken only before or after all the flights, then no interpolation will be applied and single set of the calibration images will be used.
