Problem with Align in Methashape DJI Pro 4
« on: August 05, 2019, 03:04:23 PM »
Hi  :)

I have a problem of Align step in Metashape. I have collected 598 photos. In Low Align accuracy parameter (40k key points and 4k tie points default) process failled, only 123 of 598 photos was only aligned.  :(

The same photos uload for instance in DroneDeploy free account will proccess and i be able to get ortomosaic from server.

AGL was 70 metres (for better 3D model results), platform DJI PRO 4 (model of camera FC6310, 20M) mission was draft in Dronedeploy and in PIX4D Capture, overlap 90 % (both),GSD ~2 cm, terrain was forest (wide surface of trees average ~ 10 ha)

In previus missions i used to fly with AGL 100 and 120 and some of foto wasn't align to (10 - 20 %) in Methashape but dense cloud, DEM and ortomosaic was created.

My pal use DJI PRO Advanced drone and in the same time, AGL and surface his photos was align in nearly 100 % ??? Why?

What Dronedeploy do or have then process all photos then Methashape will fail?

Why Agisoft return some errors?

In  Attachement logs and screnns from Metashape

Please some help

Thanks anyway  ;D

Hello forest_2019,

Have you tried to perform the alignment using Medium or High accuracy with only Reference pre-selection enabled?

Assuming that overlap is not the issue you could try the following:

After initial allignment where some of your photo's don't allign, run allignment a second time. Make sure you uncheck 'reset current alignment', in this way you keep the initially aligned pictures.

Another option would be to reduce the tie point limit to 0 (no limit) and increase key point limit to perhaps 80.000

not sure what kind of surface you are trying to map but when there is vegetation (especially trees) you could consider creating image masks for those areas that are generally difficult to align (water/trees)

I'm running into similar problems so let me know what works!

If the whole scene is full of trees you are going to have a problem, especially when you took the images on a windy day.

Hey!

We had the same problem over forest. We flew at a height of 50 meters.
When we tested flying at 70 meters altitude it was so much better. So try to increase the altitude!
