Georeference workaround for Metashape Standard
« on: August 13, 2019, 02:41:57 AM »
I am an engineering student current undertaking research on photogrammetry for which I am using MetaShape and I am a total novice with everything to do with photogrammetry. I am required to georeference my scans however I only have access to the standard version of MetaShape. I was wondering, out of complete desperation, if there is a workaround for using georeferenced data in MetaShape standard via external or open source programs? Any information would be much appreciated even if its just to say that its impossible which is my current belief.

Hi TDS0808,

I don't think there is a workaround. You would have to upgrade to the Metashape PRO. Note that you can get an educational license at a highly discounted price (US$ 549 instead of US$ 3,499).

Alternatively you could try some open-source solution such as:

... and more (see https://all3dp.com/1/best-photogrammetry-software/)

These are not as user-friendly & powerful as Agisoft Metashape, but if you have a tight budget they should still allow you to use/output georeferenced data.

All the best.

Kind regards,

Hello TDS0808,

If you only want scaled models in local coordinates, then this is easily possible in free Meshlab or CloudCompare afterward (see here how it can be done in Meshlab: https://www.agisoft.com/forum/index.php?topic=907.msg4302#msg4302 ). If you want more then you need the Pro version.

Best regards
