required/recommended overlap for chunks
« on: February 22, 2020, 01:26:41 AM »
I did not find in the documentation if there is a recommended minimum overlap between chunks, is there?

anyone experience with chunks and can inform me if overlap between chunks is necessary, and if so how much?

Hi 3DWinter,

it depends from what you want to align.

For example if both chunks are geo/referenced you don't need overlap at all (at least theoretical). But if they are not geo/referenced and you need the overlap for referencing both chunks to each other, then you need at least common stereo pairs along the common border of both chunks (it is similar to aligning photos in one chunk).

so what happens is if they are referenced, as well there are GCPS and there is some overlap, will Metashape just blend them around at the overlap?
