ERROR message : "can't open file : no such file or directory(2)"
« on: September 26, 2019, 03:57:52 PM »
I just bought a Metashape license for mac and I have an error message :
when I reopen a project after save and close, I no longer have access to my images file.
It 's very problematic.. Is it a bug ? how to reassign the file path in Metashape to recover the images ?

Tanks for your advices!

on metashape standard  1.5.3 (OS X)
- open software
- add photos
- align photos
- build dense cloud / mesh and textures
- save project
Close it.

- I reopen the project file "xxx.psx" few days later
- I try to open image clicking on a thumbnail
- error message "Error: Can't open file: No such file or directory (2): /Users/julienaudebert/TRAVAUX EN COURS/Metashape dossier films/Festins (photogrammétrie) TEST/Sound of music screens /vlcsnap-2019-09-15-12h28m02s080.tiff"
and image appears as a pixelated preview

thanks
Julien

Hello Julien,

Do the actual source images exist under the given path?

Metashape project file by default is saving relative paths to the images, so if the image folder and project file have been moved relatively to each other, these links will be broken.
To fix them, select all the images in the Photos pane, right-click on selection and choose Change Path command. Then  select "apply to all cameras" option and specify the new (correct) path for one of the cameras from the project - the same change will be applied automatically for all the other cameras.

thanks Alexsey for your quick response.

> when check path, it appears "missing images" / « some images are either missing or were resized". The path is correct but status is "missing".

when I « change path » the images appears  greyed out in the source folder.
I didn’t change size or location.
The source images are in a différent folder than the folder created by metashape (.files and .psx file) and I use tif files.

Is there a solution to this problem? It seems that others users have encountered the same issue but has the cause been found? No response in others similar posts.

Is it something specific to mac osx?
I lost 3 days of work, a long rendering and I can no longer open  my images...

thanks.

Hello diskono,

When you are using Change Path command and select Apply to all cameras option - you should specify the path to the single file of the list only - it should not be greyed out. However, make sure that the file names are exactly the same as before, since the change path command is case sensitive.

If the problem persists, please provide some screenshots (you can send them to support@agisoft.com, if you do not wish to make them public) demonstrating the camera labels in the Metashape window, files in the Finder as a list with the extensions specified and "change path" dialog.
