Problem with texture
« on: October 10, 2019, 04:32:30 PM »
Hello
I have problem with a texture.

Dense cloud (00...jpg) and mesh (01...jpg) look ok. However, when I build texture (02...jpg), errors appear.

Texture parameters looks like this:

Mapping mod: Generic
Blending mode: Mosaic
Texture size: 10,000
Enable hole filling No
Enable ghosting filter No

I tried to change texture parameters - it's still the same >:(

But I found that changing the mesh parameter fixes it.

Errors mesh parameters looks like this:

Source data: Dense cloud
Surface type: Arbitrary
Faces count: 10000000
Interpolation: Disabled

If i change - Interpolation: Enabled - everything looks fine (03...jpg). But I need it to be Disabled.

I tried smaller values for Faces count and Texture size - it does not work >:(

Do you know how this can be fixed?

Hello jaskol95,
how many point have your dense point cloud? And how many faces have your mesh?

Strange behavior. Maybe you can share the dataset so the community can help to fix your problems.

Hello jaskol95,

I assume that there might be a few incorrectly aligned cameras that might affect the texturing.

Also can you please share the screenshots from View Mesh UVs dialog (accessible from the Tools menu) - are there multiple tiny atlas charts?

"Texture size: 10,000

Enable ghosting filter: No"

Why those settings? ?

Hi

Texture size: 10,000 - I know the texture is terribly large but it is about the biggest detail. But even a texture of around 2000 does not fix errors.

Enable hole filling: No - In this case, nothing changes either.

Enable ghosting filter: No - In this case, nothing changes either.

Hi

And this is what UV Mesh looks like when Interpolation = Disabled

Hello Jaskol95,

With the disabled interpolation option there seem to be too many isolated mesh components which are textured from the separate texture atlas chart. And since there are so many charts, their size it very small, causing enormous scaling of the charts.

And also tons of overlap (35%).. The mesh's poor topology isn't helping either.

Hi,

I changed:

Enable hole filling Yes
Enable ghosting filter Yes

still looks ugly - and overlap is 43 :(

Hello Jaskol95,

I think you should use enabled interpolation anyway for this case.

Alternatively you may consider some external tools that would allow to perform the UV atlas parametrization and bake the point/vertices colors to the texture.
