Merging multiple large chunks (sea-coast model)
« on: October 15, 2019, 01:34:59 PM »
Hi there!

We are attempting to merge multiple large chunks (with currently only dense clouds) of cliff sites of an island. We are encountering the following problem:

One older data-set seems to be in the right geographical place but is slightly offset in z-direction compared to the other data-sets (it floats somewhat above the other dense clouds);

So far we have tried to fix this by setting up marker points but this does not solve the problem and connect the dense-clouds correctly. After merging the dense clouds the older data-set still hovers above the other dense clouds, even though there is enough overlap in tie-points. We think this is due to the conditions during which the pictures were taken (the sun is not in the same position) thus shadows and colours are slightly different in the data. Is there another way to manually shift the z-values or the entire dense cloud of the older chunk?

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, we have the same problem for chunks that overlap and look perfectly alike (same sun position conditions). Instead of merging the two chunks together, Agisoft places them on top of each other with some space in between - again the hovering.

Hello KimMolag,

Are you processing all the images in the single chunk or are using Align Chunks operation?"

Have you tried to align the images from the overlapping area for the two chunks, having the cameras unchecked in the Reference pane and using only Generic preselection option - does it result in valid alignment then?

hi KenMolag,

Have you clean up your dense cloud points ?  If you haven't, you might want to clean them up that is outside the box.  before you do this, you could do two things  Back up your project and save as a new project and experiment it..

Just wonder about that.
