Processing aerial images without side overlap
« on: November 05, 2019, 01:27:23 AM »
Hello,

I would like to know about processing aerial images without side overlap. Does Agisoft Metashape/Photoscan has the ability to use a DSM from a third party, for example, for processing of imagery, instead of using only a DSM generated, without or with poor side overlap? Maybe there are any other methods to align images and generate high quality point cloud from images without side overlap?

Thanks,
Andriy

somewhat possible. It also depends on how good or bad is your camera and lens distortion, as it is harder to model lens direction with less or no side overlap.  Having an IMU could help, better GPS GCP would also help.  Not sure what are current Metashape capability, but if you only need an orthomosaic, some software you can import a DEM to help resolve the alignment. A little back you could import a DEM in Metashape but I think it was only used after alignment which means that camera external and internal coefficients might still be modeled incorrectly.
