Rough dense cloud
« on: December 02, 2019, 07:12:02 PM »
Hi! I'm trying to build a 3D model of a poppy seed bun. I use the turntable method. I took 115 sharp photos, but the dense cloud looks rough on ultra-high settings. What could it be about? The camera ISO is 500. Thanks in advance!

Hello darkperson8,

Have you used the masks in the this project and aligned all the images in the single chunk?

Hello! Yes, I used 6 masks. Perhaps this is not enough, but even in projects where each image was a mask, it did not help. All images are correctly aligned.

Hello darkperson8,

I can suggest to generate the masks from the model (in the duplicated chunk) generated from the sparse cloud, if it has the valid shape even a rough one, then re-align the image set and rebuild the dense cloud.

For alignment I would suggest High accuracy, Generic preselection, 40 000 key points, 10 000 tie points, adaptive fitting - disabled. For dense cloud - Mild filtering. If you have Store depth option in the Advanced preferences tab enabled, you can re-use the depth maps and generate the mesh model based on the depth maps (I recommend to use version 1.6.0 pre-release for it).

Thank you! I will try this. Could it be because of the lighting?

It didn't help. I've built a dense cloud at high settings, but this roughness is already visible.

Hello darkperson8,

Would it be possible to share the original image set and the project in PSZ format with the alignment results, so that we could reproduce the issue on our side? To reduce the project size you can remove the depth maps, dense cloud and mesh, as we would be able to rebuild them.

If you can share the data, please send the download link to support@agisoft.com or via PM on forum.
