export in obj : binary encoding disabled?

Wether I try to export point clouds or models in obj, Binary encoding is always disabled.
Any idea why ?

Obj's are big dumb text files so binary encoding is not applicable.

Yes, OBJ files are always in plain text format. If you need more compact files, please consider using other formats, like PLY or FBX, for example.
