Aligning and Merging Chunks of Drone Photos
« on: December 02, 2019, 05:05:17 PM »
I have 8000 photos split up into 28 chunks. Each chunk contains photos taken during a single flight session that someone else took for me. All photos in each chunk were aligned using GPS points/reference preselection. I haven't processed dense cloud in these chunks yet; only sparse cloud.

When I go to Align Chunks, I see a pair preselection option but not a reference preselection, which I was hoping for. But I can quickly merge all chunks (skipping the Align Chunks step) and it seems to overlap correctly because my cameras have GPS metadata. Now that I have everything in one chunk I can proceed as normal, correct? Move straight to Build Dense Cloud, skipping Align Chunks?

Thanks!

Hello ArchArch,

If all the chunks are referenced in the same coordinate system (and have [R] mark next to their labels in the Workspace pane), you can proceed to Merge Chunks operation skipping chunk alignment, as the chunks are already aligned.
