Incorrect RGB values in dense point cloud
« on: December 12, 2019, 12:01:59 PM »
Hello,

I recently processed 8-bit/per channel RGB imagery (.jpeg) in Metashape and exported a range of products from the project. These included an orthomosaic, a textured model and a dense point cloud (.las). Both orthomosaic and texture files were exported correctly as 8-bit imagery (0-255 values range). However, in the case of my dense point cloud, RGB values of exported points ranged from 0 to 65535 indicating a 16-bit scale. Why is that? Is there some kind of transformation applied to the point cloud's colour values?

In a different project, in which I processed 16-bit/per channel multispectral imagery I was able to export all three products (orthomosaic, texture and dense point cloud) with a consistent 16-bit scale.

Hello smiglo,

Which export formats for the point cloud export you are using? Are you observing 16-bit colors for plain-text XYZ format export?
