Orthophotos have problems at the edges
« on: May 30, 2011, 05:07:37 PM »
I found problems in the generation of orthophotos when the pictures have black border, and that in making the fusion of these edges are merged into the mosaic.  as simple to solve this problem is to add an option to not use a percentage of the edges of the photos, for example 5% of the area of the photo.  This will no longer be the edges in the fusion.

It is also important for experienced users to add the option to create individual orthophotos, as there are sophisticated applications for the fusion of the mosaic.

Diego

Hello Diego,

Your problem can be probably solved by adding masks to the source images. If the border width is approximately the same on all photos, you can set the mask for just a single photo and then propagate it to others using "Propagate Mask" command from the "Photo" menu.

For more details on setting masks please refer to the "Using masks" section of the PhotoScan User Manual (Chapter 4, Advanced use).

The multi-layer export option is not supported by PhotoScan, but we are currently working on the improved orthophoto generation method which should provide more detailed renderings.

Thanks for your answer, but I do not mean multilayer.  I mean an option to generate individual orthophotos for each photo in the project, this would have the opportunity to perform the fusion of the mosaic in another application, the individual orthophotos as photoscan generated rendering in memory and that is u problem  large projects.

Hello Diego,

PhotoScan supports rendering final orthophoto in blocks, which helps to overcome the problem with RAM when generating orthophotos for large data sets.

To enable this feature please select "Split in blocks" option in the "Export Orthophoto" dialog box. The suitable size of each block can be specified there also.

Hello Alexey,

If I know that option, but what I like is being able to generate individual orthophotos to merge with another application, as there are areas that appear as ghosts in heavy coating.  You would only be an additional option to generate individual orthophotos, but it would be important for advanced users.

Hello Diego,

We'll consider necessity of this feature. But anyway I don't think it would be available in the near future.
