Capture distance in reference settings.
« on: January 15, 2020, 06:16:23 PM »
I recently noticed that "Ground altitude (m)" has disappeared from the reference settings and appears to be replaced by "Capture distance (m)."  Does this serve the same purpose as ground altitude did, i.e. to allow proper preselection with oblique imagery?

Thank hyou

Hello jslyder,

Yes, it will also help for oblique imagery alignment. Note that "capture distance" should be set as average distance to ground (for example, flight height) instead of ground level above ellipsoid, like in older versions.

Alexey, if we have a very good DEM we can have a very good shoot distance.can be take into account for the aligment? Will it help on aligment? thanks

Hello fjgarciam,

The presence of the DEM in the chunk will not have any effect on the alignment process.

Can be taken into account?

Hello fjgarciam,

Are you observing any unmatched pairs that should have common tie points when using reference preselection with the Capture Distance specified? If there are no such unmatched pairs, then improvements in pre-selection algorithm wouldn't help anyhow, as all the pairs are already selected with the current approach.
