nikon d800 E
« on: April 18, 2013, 05:05:25 AM »
For a new project, we are looking on the option to buy a nikon d800E, but it is a big investment to experiment how it works on photogrammetry without the  anti-aliasing filter.

does any one have experiences with this camera?

regards

Juan

As im have read the antialiasing is not so big problem. its show up mostly on fashion themed stuff like clothes with detailed structure...... Aerial should be not a problem for it....

will ask my friend if he has tested for Aerial stuff

For a few weeks now I have been using Nikon D7100, which lacks AA filter just like the D800. So far I have not ran into any banding/moire issues, and the extra pixel sharpness nicely helps Photoscan do its thing.

With D800E and it's sharp 36mpix, keep in mind that unless you use top shelf lens and shoot in optimal conditions (fast shutter, lens sweet spot aperture), most likely you will not see any benefits of using D800E over D800 (or cheaper 24mpix cams for that matter).

Cheers,
Andrew
