Question on point cloud digitalization
« on: February 21, 2020, 01:50:57 PM »
Hi all, sorry for a probably dumb question and a surely terrible english...
Evaluating Metashape, i've learned how can be simpler and efficient to digitalize breacklines or other fatures from DTM or Mesh compared to digitalize directly from the points cloud; however in some cases can be preferable to extract some features directly from points cloud. In these cases, why the line doesn't snap to the points cloud? And how is the height of each vertex of the line calculated?

Thanks

Hello Topo,

Do you mean drawing shapes in the Model view? Which view mode are you using (sparse or dense cloud)?

You can use shapes with the attached markers, thus you can define and adjust their vertex location as projections on the images.

Yes, i mean in the Model view with dense cloud; i know i can attach markers and adjust vertex location, but sometime it's simpler to "snap" the vertex directly on to the nearest point of the dense cloud.
Furthermore, when i draw a shape in the model view, how is calculated the position of every vertex?

Thanks!
