Metashape crash on Detect Markers
« on: March 15, 2020, 03:49:07 PM »
Metashape crashes every time when "Circular 12 Bit target" automatic detection is launched.

The setup is: Metashape Pro, version 1.62 running on "--opengl angle" mode in an Acer Nitro 5, (i7-7700HQ, 16GB, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti)

The marker detection ran flawlessly when Metashape is running on a WmWare Machine. This leads to believe that the problem could be related to video card setup.

Was already tried:
- Disabling all GPU Devices acceleration on "Preferences > GPU"
- Removing Metshape from "NVIDIA 3D configuration programs list"

Any thoughts about how to fix this problem?

Hello margenn,

Have you submitted the crash report already? If the problem can be easily reproduced, please submit the crash report and add this thread number (11989) to the comments field, so that we could identify it.

Please also specify the OS version installed and GPU driver version.

Hello Alexey

It is presumed that crashreporter should automatically launched after the crash. But it's not happening. Metashape closes silently.

NVIDIA Driver was updated minutes ago to: 26.21.14.4219 (2020-01-26)

The problem still persists.

Hello margenn,

Are you observing the unexpected program shut down on any dataset or only on a specific one during the coded target detection operaiton?

Please also check, if there are any metashape.exe related lines marked as errors in the Windows Event Viewer -> Windows Logs -> Application section. If there are any, please export them as .evtx file and send to support@agisoft.com.

Hi, have the same problem - on running the Tools/Markers/Detect Markers Metashape silently fals. Cameras are full HD 1920x1080. If I change the resolution of the camera - add a white stripe and then the resolution is 1920x1200, everything works perfectly. If the resolution is 1920x1199 (and anyhow lower), program silently falls. Guess the bug is in the resolution here? I have not seen if the resolution limited from below?

Sending images in the attachment.

using 12bit coded targets printed from the same version used for detection, 1.6.2 build 10247 (64bit).

Hello Martin,

We are not getting crashes running coded targets detection for the provided images on our side.

If you are getting crash reporter window, please submit the report and add the link to this thread in the comment field of the crash reporter dialog. Also (if you are using Windows) please check the Windows Events Viewer -> Windows Logs -> Application section and if there are error-marked lines related to metashape.exe, please export them to .evtx format and send to support@agisoft.com.

Hello Alexey,
no crash reports appear.

Have notebook with Win 10 Home, Intel i7-8750H, 32G RAM,  NVIDIA GTX 1060 + Intel UHD Graphics 630 (tryed on both with the same result).

Events appeared, giving to attachment and sending by email.

Thanks
Martin

Hello Martin,

The exception code indicates that there are problems with the memory, so I recommend to perform Memtest86 checks.
