Generating Mesh Linux 64bit Ubuntu 11.04
« on: June 06, 2011, 02:35:35 AM »
When it gets to 'Generating Mesh' using 'Smooth' or 'Fast' method, it seems that Photoscan is not taking advantage of all Threads available to it. I'm using an i7 2600 and it's only using a single Thread during this process. When using Exact method of reconstruction it's happily bounding through this at lightning speeds, using all threads.

Is this as it should be?

best regards

Hello Mike,

PhotoScan uses different approaches for mesh generation during 'Generating Mesh' stage depending on the reconstruction method selected. Unfortunately the approach used for "Smooth"/"Fast" methods is not as well parallelized as one used for "Exact" method. That's the area for future improvements.

Hello Alexey,

Multitasking for all Mesh generation methods would be very good.  Hopefully this at an upcoming Update.

Thanks for the support.

Best Regards,
