Masking Creation/Export/Import
« on: April 22, 2020, 10:44:27 PM »
Hello. I am running Metashape 1.6.2 on Windows 10. I have a small project of overhead mapping from a Phantom 4 Pro along a coastline. The images were having trouble aligning because of the breaking waves creating dynamically changing interference along the length of the flight. I tried to mask using the magic wand with a wide tolerance. The selections were working very well. However, when I exported each mask (each photo requires a separate mask) the mask disappeared! There is a masking.files folder in my project directory, but no files as I named them exist. I appear to be following the direction in the manual, does anyone have a suggestion on what I'm doing wrong?

Hello amcleod,

Can you please confirm that you have actually applied the mask when drawing in the Photo view mode?

The general process of manual masking is the following: draw a selection, add selection to mask, repeat if necessary. Is it possible that you have only selected the part of the image with the magic wand, but haven't added it to the mask itself?

I've found some tutorial on Youtube, so during the first two minutes of the video you should see how it should look like when applying masks using Magic Wand:
