DEM export
« on: June 22, 2020, 01:59:09 PM »
Hello i had a question about exporting dem files. Im exporting a small file 110MB from agisoft metashape but i can only export it to TIFF file, and not a .dem file which i need so i can open it in ArcMAP. This is for surveying purposes and the other options in the exporting menu arent usable for me. Thank you in advance

Hello,

I've never used *.dem files but this is just another raster-based format for elevation models, just like TIFFs can be used for.
ArcMap has no issues at all using TIFFs with height values. I'm using them all the time, just export to TIFF, using the right CRS you need and open it in ArcMap.

Hello Tonci992,

If .dem is some common and widely used format, can you please give a link to the format description, so that we could check, how easily it can be implemented in Metashape export?

Hi there,

As long as you use the Export DEM function, a .tiff will work exactly the same way in ArcMap as a .dem and will carry elevation data for each raster cell.
