Exported Object (STL) Looks "Melted" / Less Defined
« on: September 04, 2020, 06:11:21 PM »
Hello all,

I scanned an object, and the preview in Metashape looks pretty good. When I go to export as an STL, the object looks much worse, almost like it's melting.

I haven't used Build Texture, because every time I use the default settings I went up getting a "not enough memory" error (32 GB of RAM, AMD 570x 4 GB).

Any advice on how to have my exported objects look more like the preview?

Hello OutrageousBPLUS,

Which reconstruction parameters are you using for this model?

I could suggest to run the depth maps based mesh generation. As it may give you more sharp edges and better reconstruction for minor details. However, the export operation just saves the model as it appears in Metashape and I believe you should see the similar quality mesh in the processed project in Solid view mode as you see it after the export.
