Detailed Objects in Larger Landscape

Hi All,

I am creating models of a 10mx10m study site of a reef landscape. Within the landscape I have particular features that I would like in sharp detail. They are fairly complex branching corals (<1m2). I was wondering if it is possible to capture the entire landscape (using a lawnmower pattern) and then go back and capture the points of interest more thoroughly (possibly using multiple angles, or circular patterns) and add them into the larger landscape model to add more detail to the key features.

I hope this made sense! Apologies if this has already been covered, however I've been searching a lot and have found nothing.
