Radeon 7970 3GB or 6GB?
« on: May 26, 2013, 05:38:48 AM »
I see there are two versions of this card out, one with 3GB of vram and the other with 6GB. I know there's a thread discussing the performance of this card, but I was wondering if you guys have recommendations or experience with them? About $100 separates one from the other, seems like good value for the money.. I can imagine the higher ram is better for agisoft but can someone confirm this?

Any advice would be appreciated, ready to upgrade ASAP.
Thanks,

6GB only if want/need to work with big meshes = +50 mil tiras and big textures . it will NOT speedup reconstruction process.....

So it's only good for visualization of the data, does not improve processing speed?

Do multiple cards improve any part of the model creation process?

yes, no speedup of reconstruction. Multiple cards improve the DEPHT stage part of reconstruction, its aprox 5-10+ times faster with GPU as just with CPU.... later maybe even MESH creation will run on gpu...
