Filter photos by marker Question ?
« on: September 04, 2020, 08:01:03 PM »
So, if you plot a marker on a photo and then when you filter photos by a marker and it comes up 3 photos to do.

The 3 photos has the same area with 3 markers.  So one is already plotted and you need to fix 2 more..  If one of them is bad and not in the same area,  Is it possible for me to remove that marker and keep the 2 markers ?

Would that affect when you run the workflow ?

Hi PROBERT1968

By "plot" do you mean that you are locating and adjusting the target in the photo?

Also, in my limited experience, "Filter photos by Marker" doesn't work for me and is broken if it's supposed to show photos that contain the marker coordinate.  "Filter photos by Point" on the other hand works as expected.  For example, if I right click on a Marker and select "Filter photos by Marker", usually no photos are found.  However, If I right click on the marker in the Model viewer and select "Filter photos by Point" then all the photos that contain that point are displayed in the Photo pane.

I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong and it's working correctly for everyone else?

By plotting , I mean finding any features on the photo and add a marker...

So when you have a marker on any of the Model , or Ortho , or on any photo. You right click on any marker it give you the context menu list that says filter by marker and then the software shoots you on a photo tab.

I just did a test and added a marker to a feature and and filtered photos by that marker.  I then validated the placement of the marker in several of the photos and the flag turns from white to green.  I then right clicked on the white flagged marker in one of the photos and selected "Remove Marker" and it removed it from that photo but the marker is unchanged in the other photos so I don't think it matters if you deselect one.  Although, in my test, the marker was actually on the feature and just needed adjusted in position.  I did not have any photos in the filtered set that were there by mistake.  That is, they were filtered but did not actually include the feature.

I would add that I don't think leaving markers in photos untouched (white instead of green) will cause a problem with reconstruction.  On the other hand,  confirming a marker (turning it green) in a photo where the feature really is not there probably would cause problems.  Metashape probably just ignores the white markers.

If I'm wrong, hopefully someone will set me straight !
