Hello Wmthiab,

Usually we recommend to use CPUs with the highest possible base frequency (at least 3.1-3.2 GHz), with 6-14 cores for Intel processors or 8-32 cores for AMD. It's better to avoid overclocking, as it may lead to the unstable processing.

As for the GPUs, check the number of CUDA cores and theoretical TFLOPs value for single precision calculations - higher values are better. SLI is not required, but you can use multiple GPUs at the same time without having them connected.

When I have a performance monitor running alongside Metashape, the only time I see the GPU doing more than idle is when navigating in the model view.  It doesn't seem to do much in any of the processing steps that I noticed.

This observation is on a laptop with a RTX 2070.

Hello Dave,

Which task is in progress and which tool you are using to monitor GPU activity?

If you are looking on Windows 10 Task Monitor, I recommend to switch to "Cuda" graph on the GPU page.

Hi Alexey,

The last process I was watching was build Mesh from Depth Maps.  I was using Task Manager but I did not have the Cuda graph selected.  I will do that next time.

Thank you!

Hello Dave,

In the processing log (that you can access from the Progress dialog) you should see, if the GPU or CPU is used for the GPU-supported sub-steps. In case the GPU is used, you should see and activity in "Cuda" graph.
Alternatively you can use other dedicated instruments, like GPU-Z, for example, to monitor the GPU activity.
