Option to Disable GPU for Texture Baking?
« on: December 27, 2024, 06:06:31 AM »
Having an issue with extremely poor quality textures when using the GPU for texturing. This is unrelated to the Nvidia Driver issue in 2.1.3. Using 2.1.4 now but still the quality difference between GPU and CPU texturing at the same resolution is crazy. I am fine with the slower process if it looks better.

In case this is an inherit issue of using the GPU and it can not be improved, is there or can there be a way to disable GPU use for only Texture Baking? This way I do not have to go into settings and uncheck/check the GPU for every scan.

Best Regards,
Austin

Hello Austin,

Is it possible to share the sample project demonstrating the problem (two models textured with GPU enabled and disabled) and also the source images that we can use to reproduce and analyze the problem on our side?
Please send the download link to the data to support@agisoft.com. Also specify the OS version used, NVIDIA driver installed and, if available, share the logs corresponding to GPU-enabled and CPU-only texture blending operations of the same model.

Meanwhile you can create BuildTexture/enable_gpu tweak and set its value to False, if you would like to disable the use of GPU for the texture blending.

Hi Alexey,

Thank you for the quick reply! The tweak worked well. I will send the project with info over to support once it is uploaded.

Best Regards,
Austin
