Freenas local network processing
« on: October 31, 2020, 12:40:13 PM »
Hellow !

I build a nas running freenas to work and store on my metashape projects, i've been struggling with apparently small network glitch during depht map processing : 'Can't read file error 59' that made the whole process crash. So i'm currently trying to do the workflow using my workstation as self server and node to do the job. So far the process is running despite the errors without totally crashing. My question: Will metashape be able to correct the errors by recalculating the parts that had the network glitch or not ?

Thanks !

Hello Iluvathar,

If the network sub-task fails, the processing node will receive the next job from the server. Failed jobs will be added to the end of queue and the node will re-start the processing for those jobs.

Apparenty it was a path problem restarted and solved it by using --root [path to my freenas storage :)

Update, still not working, any clues ?

Apparently during the calculation of depht map the .zip files are corrupted, i've checked the ones that failed during the calculation and windows cannot open them. Nobody used / uses freenas to store and work on projects ?

i keep having this message : Error: Can't read file: unexpected network error (59)
my freenas configuration : 40tb in with a AMD Ryzen 3 3200G with Radeon Vega Graphics with 8gb of ram (info on the dashboard : 5.9 gb installed) 4 disks of 10 tb in RAIDZ1.

We use it as our main storage mounted as SMB from Windows machines and haven't run in to any issues. I'm afraid I can't be more help than that.

Maybe you're running in to issues with the special characters in your paths? We try to limit them to the set: a-z, A-Z, 0-9, _, -.

Apparently i have not enough ram on the freenas system, only 8gb and the network card of the motherboard a Gigabyte B450 AORUS M is from Realtek and a lots of users encountered network issues with those chipsets, so i will add more ram and install an  Intel CT desktop ethernet adapter and may solve the problem...
