Using orthorectified GeoTIFF's
« on: November 13, 2020, 12:52:52 AM »
Hello Metashape community,

I am looking at using Metashape to process manned aircraft photos with the main goal to obtain a high quality, well blended orthomosaic.

I have all of the photos orthorectified and in GeoTIFF format, which I would prefer to use as they are already placed very accurately in space rather than using the original .jpg’s. Does anyone have any experience using orthorectified photos in TIFF format in Metashape with success? Essentially, I just need Metashape to stitch and blend the photos together. Since they are already orthorectified, is there a way to skip the camera alignment process and have the orthomosaic created? I have a DEM that I could import as well.

Thanks for any insight!

Hello MDW,

You can try to import the orthorectified images to the same chunk via File Menu -> Import -> Import Orthomosaic command, then select all Orthomosaic instances in the chunk's contents and apply Merge command from the context menu.

However, I think that for such purposes almost any GIS application can be used.
