MSS data processing question
« on: December 15, 2020, 04:47:23 PM »
We have noticed a misregistration in the independent bands acquired from Micasense RedEdge M camera.
After scouting on the net, we did find a couple of publications indicating this mismatch and a process to correct through RABBIT.
But I am wondering if Metashapes internally does this co-registration. We never could have a crisper imager from the orthos though.
Any idea or suggestions?

Hello jgyFPI,

During the camera alignment stage Metashape estimates the relative orientation of the sensors of the multispectral rig and also the orientation of each camera system location.

Are you observing relative shift between the bands of the multispectral orthomosaic processed in Metashape based on MicaSense camera data?

The image you are seiing is from the raw camera capture. Orthos is some part are slightly better, perhaps of the orientation parameters that Metashapes is taking care of. But the orthos are definitely not crisper. See the example attached.
top image is a screen capture from a higher resolution RGB camera (DJI Xenmuse 4S) ortho and below is the Micasense RedEdge ortho. Both generated in Metashapes.
