Agisoft Cloud failure
« on: December 10, 2020, 04:19:26 AM »
So I was merging two chunks on Agisoft Cloud and this is the email I received.

processing failed :(
We are sorry to tell you that an error occurred while processing your project.
Please try again!
https://cloud.agisoft.com

No hints as to what went wrong!
Unfortunately there is no log file accessible that I could see.

When I sync it back to my PC, I see this in the log - perhaps helpful?
Error: Empty pairs list

Hold that thought:
Looks like I missed a step. Have to align chunks before I merge them. Perhaps a warning would have helped?

Hello rossnixon,

Can you please specify the name of the failed project? (unless it is confidential, then send it via PM).

Hi Alexey,

I'm running the align chunks now. It is taking a very long time.
Meanwhile I'm creating orthophotos on each separate chunk in case I don't end up with one good combined project.

Hello rossnixon,

Point based chunk alignment without preselection may take quite a long time.

According to the current project state, the image matching is being performed for about a day already. I will check later, if there's any progress on the task or there's any problem.

I don't know why it should do image matching. Each of the two projects have a good mesh. I was hoping that the meshes would just join up, with some way of averaging them where they overlapped.

I expect to complete the orthophoto production on my PC within about 36 hours. Once I've checked those on Monday (NZ time), I will consider cancelling the Cloud processing, which may still be running.

Hello rossnixon,

The Align Chunks task has been started using the point based method, thus Metashape is trying to find the matching points between all the chunks and position the chunks relatively to each other.

If the chunks were already referenced in the same coordinate system you could have run Merge Chunks operation without using Align Chunks.

I had tried Merge Chunks first, but this failed - as described in my first message.

Hello rossnixon,

I think you shouldn't select "Merge Tie Points" operation, if there are no key points in the chunks being merged.
