BigTIFF export option is already available for Orthomosaic and DEM export.

Have you tried export TIFF with deflate ?  If you export as a TIFF with None compression. it is hugh file size.

Nice, I don't use these features so have not known that. Would be nice to have this for exporting regular textures as well.

I'm more concerned by the read/write speed rather than the filesize on disk in this case.

Have you used BigTIFF textures with common image and model editing applications? We have not performed such tests, but are not sure, that such data type is properly supported by many applications of these types.

To be fair, it is not

That being said, in our proprietary tools we implemented it as such that whenever an exported texture is >4Gb the format switches to BigTiff, if files are smaller it uses regular Tiff. That keeps things compatible but also lets us export massive files.
