well i bought my Agisoft software.
I took a few photos of my daughter, uploaded them, marked them and did the things in the manual. 
Unfortunately, 3/4's of the way through the final stage (i think it is rendering) it told me i didnt have enough memory.
So its off to get a new laptop for my scanning hobby.
Firstly - recommended specs for a laptop.  Whats a good PC for the hobby of 3D scanning/photogammetry?
Secondly - can somebody run the final part of the program for me.  id like to see how i went.  I dont think it will be very good but id like to see none the less.

As you have noticed, RAM is one of the biggest issues. If you don't plan to process projects with more than 50 images or so, 16 GB might be good enough to start with (also depending on the desired model quality). Lots of tips to be found here: http://www.agisoft.ru/wiki/PhotoScan/Tips_and_Tricks.

Generally, running Photoscan on a laptop is not the best idea (but not impossible) because of CPU, GPU and RAM constraints. If you plan to use Photoscan frequently and/or with many photographs, you'll be better off buying a "real" PC with a quadcore (or more) CPU, a good graphics card (see http://www.agisoft.ru/forum/index.php?topic=651.0) and lots of RAM.

As for creating 3D models of living subjects, be aware that any movement inbetween photographs will result in poor 3D models.
